Sephiroth
CHARACTER DESCRIPTION
A man in his mid-twenties, Sephiroth stands at a respectable height of six feet and one inch. Green, cat-like eyes glow from Jenova's cells, and are a fitting match to the regal, silver mane trailing down the length of his back, with long bangs parted at the front. Sephiroth's body is in peak warrior condition, sacrificing neither strength nor speed, and possessing both in spades.
Sephiroth's uniform greatly differs from the standard combat fatigues issued to all SOLDIERs, a privilege only granted to First Class. He dons a long black coat with silver pauldrons, open at the top with leather suspenders crossing over it; a generous portion of his upper torso is displayed. Directly beneath it is a belt depicting the SOLDIER insignia, surrounded by five silver stars denoting his rank. The lower half of his attire is not particularly complex, and consists of comfortable black pants and boots. He is most often seen wearing similarly-colored gloves, even though the extra grip protection is unnecessary.
CHARACTER PERSONALITY
Above all else, Sephiroth is confident to the point of arrogance; unlike the vast majority of the populace, he very well has the right to be. His reputation as the Legendary SOLDIER sparks the imaginations of countless children around the Planet, while hearing his name strikes fear into the hearts of those meeting him on the battlefield. He is completely and utterly ruthless, viewing anyone that stands in the way of his objectives as an obstacle to be removed. Each action is planned out and accounted for in advance, every motion effortless and efficient. He is a person disconnected from and unmindful of societal morals; Sephiroth has no need for society. Outwardly, his cold demeanor is sufficient in keeping the world at arm's length; his only confidants are fellow 1st Class SOLDIERs Angeal Hewley and Genesis Rhapsodos, followed by Zack Fair "the puppy". Only to the aforementioned trio does he display any signs of loyalty, and even share his dry sense of humor on the odd occasion.
Despite lacking in social skills, Sephiroth is an extremely good judge of character. Apart from his two friends, he holds Professor Gast Faremis in high regard, admiring the scientist's pursuit of wisdom for its own sake, rather than using it to gain power. His respect also extends to Veld, the previous head of the Turks, who is willing to sacrifice everything for a mission.
CHARACTER HISTORY
"I knew ever since I was a child, I was not like the others."
Sephiroth is the successful creation of a human fetus injected with Jenova cells and mako energy, carried out in the abandoned Shin-Ra mansion of Nibelheim between his parents, Professor Hojo and Lucrecia Crescent; he has never met the latter. Aside from being told his mother's name was "Jenova", and that she died during childbirth, Sephiroth has no other information regarding his heritage; Professor Hojo has never stepped forth to claim his offspring. Furthermore, he remains unaware that he is the progenitor of the SOLDIER program, though none of its future candidates flourished to his degree in their mako enhancements.
Years passed, and Sephiroth's fame as the "Legendary SOLDIER" became known worldwide, especially for his exploits in the Wutai War. Crushing even the nation's elite fighting force, the Crescent Unit, he was elevated to the special wartime rank of "five-star general", making his word on future battlefields law, and second only to direct orders from President Shinra himself. During the events of Wutai's last stand at Fort Tamblin, he arrives just in time to obliterate the Ifrit summon before it can finish off Zack Fair. A short conversation ensues, in which Sephiroth expresses his belief that his two companions, SOLDIERs First-Class Angeal Hewley and Genesis Rhapsodos, have betrayed Shin-Ra and him as well.
A year later, Sephiroth would again be called into service, this time to prevent the eco-terrorist group known as "AVALANCHE" from wresting control of Junon's Sister Ray cannon. Outside the control room, he briefly engages a woman named "Elfé", the organization's leader and a swordsman skilled enough to hold him back, albeit temporarily. Before she retreats, Elfé questions him on his motives for fighting; it is an inquiry he will contemplate for days to come, and the catalyst for his terrible vengeance in an alternate universe. Sephiroth's final action against AVALANCHE would be to retrieve Professor Hojo, following the terrorist's group attempt to bribe the scientist away from Shin-Ra.
On September 22, εуλ 0002, Sephiroth, Zack Fair, and three other military police personnel are dispatched to investigate a mako reactor located outside the rural town of Nibelheim, its workers missing and legions of monsters spawning in near vicinity. During the voyage, the entire group is rendered unconscious by unknown means. In a different timeline, there would be no recollection of the event, and everyone would reach their destination as preordained by a higher power, leading to the tragic Nibelheim Incident, and a hero's fall into madness.
However, upon awakening, a silver-haired SOLDIER finds that things are not as they should be...

He enjoyed sparring with fellow 1st Class SOLDIERs Angeal Hewley and Genesis Rhapsodos before their defections. His dislikes include being sent on trivial missions, Genesis' never-ending quotes from LOVELESS, and comments made about his hair.]

*He frowns.* What madness is this?
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?"
"My loyalties lie with SOLDIER." Angeal, Genesis... [Survivor]
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?"
Such inane questions."...I am six foot one."
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy."
"..."
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?"

"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?"
*silence*
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!"
*He regards the direction of the disembodied voice with a wary eye until it dissipates, then shakes his head and begins heading south towards a village on the fog's edge.* ---
