-------
-------
For countless years untold, across infinite dimensions, a war has been waged between two deities and their chosen warriors - Cosmos, the Goddess of Harmony, and Chaos, the God of Discord. An eternal cycle of balanced war, perpetually lacking a victor, maintained by the great dragon Shinryu...
Or... so it was meant to be.
In the thirteenth cycle of this endless conflict, the war finally did end - with the chosen warriors of Cosmos emerging victorious. The world was left to sink in to the rift it had come from. Unbeknownst to the warriors as they returned to the homes from which they had been whisked away, a victory was never supposed to have been gained by either side...
-------
-------
When the war's end came to Shinryu's attention, he was outraged at what he perceived as a betrayal by Cid of the Lufaine. The end of the war had never been prophesied - and the great dragon sought retribution for an unfulfilled pact.
The great entity tore apart the galaxies near and far to get its revenge, the homes of the warriors and so many, many more. He tore out entire cities from the worlds and created a twisted mockery of what the war's battleground might have been: the Distorted World, a cohesive and varied land formed of the pieces left behind, existing at the end of the worlds.
-------
-------
Shinryu's rage extended even further, beyond the conceived limits of space-time, to other worlds, where he became corrupted by dark influences the nature of which ought never be revealed. The cursed dragon now seeks to completely crush the world he created and everyone who has come to inhabit it. Such a wish fulfilled would spell the complete demise of the past, present, and future of any and all worlds... and the universe itself.
-------
-------
Chaos and Cosmos, the deities revived by the unnatural rifts in time caused by Shinryu's great rage, have silently bound their remaining power to restraining the great dragon from destroying the world... but these efforts can only do so much...
The fate of this remnant of the worlds - and the fate of all of the worlds that have existed, exist, or will exist - is at stake. The residents of the Distorted World can tip the balance... in one way, or the other.
You have the ability to change your fate. Take up your quest and choose a side, lend your heart and your blade to the protection of the worlds, or take measures to hasten the arrival of the end. It's all up to you.
Welcome to the Distorted World.
