CHARACTER NAMEHestia Shyama
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONHestia is a hume/fiend mix, her mother originating as a Fox Fiend and her father as a Human. Hestia’s form is made almost fully as a hume structure, though she retains the signature ears and tail of her mother, even in human form. Regardless of being in Fox or human form, she has snow-white hair/fur, pale skin and crimson eyes, traits generally attributed to albinos, though they’re overlooked due to her half-breed origin.
Hestia stands at 5’3”, weighing just under 54Kg with a curvy figure. She has been most commonly known to wear a unique kimono, consisting of a white, sleeveless-shirt and a long red-oriental patterned skirt, with laced sandals for her feet. Generally also includes detached sleeves, held onto her upper arms by red cloth; the sleeves are generally slightly longer than her arms and hide her hands for the most part. Besides that general layout, she has been known to wear additional things, such as stockings, a ribbon tied into her hair, a long red scarf wrapped around her neck; or on most occasions, a small red hair decoration, much resembling a hat.
Hestia is also well-known for befriending other fiends or animals, and normally can be found among the company of hume and fiends alike.
CHARACTER PERSONALITYHestia is a very carefree type of person, much preferring the mischief of hide-and-seek to the rigors of study; even in her adulthood. She enjoys making others around her happy, with either her mischief or kind deeds, and overall detests injustice. She’s very much so the type who acts before they think, preferring to simply take action, and react as the situation progresses. This has afforded her many successes and many failures… though most of her failures originating from the Temple priests outsmarting her.
Hestia retains a protective natural instinct over children, be they young fiends or humans. Her indiscrimination, especially in situations where many misunderstandings may arise; such as a young fiend attacking someone from curiosity or fear; sometimes creates animosity from one party or the other towards her, though her skills at making friends often resolves the situation peacefully.
CHARACTER HISTORYHestia was born from the Fox Fiend Amaterasu’s womb as a hume-fiend half-breed. She never met her father, though her mother told her many stories of his kindness. She grew up among fiends, though she always felt out of place; until one day, a priest found her wounded and weary after having fought a group of fiends who didn’t want to accept her existence off. The priest took her back to the temple he served at and tended her back to good health, though a fear of returning to the world of fiends seized her, so instead she stayed and served at the temple as a priestess and protector; her own power being undeniable, though young as she was.
She served in the temple for a few years, mingling with its populace, and oft times getting into mischief with the children of those who visited. On one such instance, Hestia had conjured up a fox familiar at the urging of her companions and set it into the temple, frightening the priests and visitors alike. The temple became a place of safety, as well as a playground for her. Eventually though, the roots of prejudice worked its way inside, and she once again felt out of place. As such, she returned to the world of the fiends, giving her farewells to those she knew.
On her return, she at first was shunned from having lived among humans for so long. However, as she continued to dwell among them, her talent for befriending fiends and people alike became undoubtedly clear. She soon could play her mischief just as well with fiends as she could with humans. By this time, she had become distinctly more powerful, so fighting off the few that didn’t want to accept her was an easy task; while befriending them afterwards was even easier. She became a much favored figure amongst the fiends, and oft as not had a companion or two with her at all times.
It was around this point in time when the worlds became distorted, and Hestia was pulled from everything she knew and thrust into an alien place. She awoke in a forest clearing, lying on a bed of flattened tall-grass with an orb beside her. No matter how much she inspected, fondled, or poke or prodded it, she could not figure out what the orb was; so she did the only logical thing she could. She took the orb, and went in search of someone who knew what it was. Soon thereafter, she came upon the small village of Besaid, taking a liking to it; much do to nostalgia for her former home.
She dwells in Besaid, enjoying its denizens and watching over the temple currently; hoping a visitor might come along who could tell her about the strange object she found.

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?""Hi hi! I’m Hestia; is there any teriyaki here?"
"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?""Well, I can’t really say. It seems I can’t remember its name; I just remember it as ‘home’."
"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?""What do I do? Well, I help out around the temple, or sometimes I play with the fiends in the forest. The priests always get a weird look on their faces when I come back, though I bring them back presents."
"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?""You live in a temple too? Isn’t it weird how priests are always so stiff? They should just relax!"
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?""Flaunt it? What do you mean by that? And what do you mean “who am I allied with?”, I don’t like those kinds of complicated things…"
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?""Eh? I’m this tall, why do ask if you can see it?"
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy.""A date? I suppose all men are like that, hume or fiend alike."
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?""Huh? This is Besaid. How do you not know where you are if you’re here already?"
"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?""Osu-mya! I love bathing down in the water. It’s refreshing!"
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!""E-e-explode?!"

The city that Arleen woke up in was not the city that she knew, nor was the sky she was staring at the one she had looked to almost every day of her life. There were people moving back and forth, but none of them looked remotely similar to the people of Cocoon. Not just the clothes, but the way they acted was different. The atmosphere of the place was different though; like something foreboding hung over the city like an executioner’s tool. It wasn’t a welcoming feeling at that, and combining that with the fact that she had no idea where she was made Arleen feel like she was surrounded by enemies. She just hoped that feeling was incorrect.
“Excuse me, miss?” She got the attention of the nearest person to her, who frowned at her, seemingly curiously. “Where am I?” Arleen continued, keeping her voice steady; not caving in to how weak a question that sounded. The woman scoffed at her slightly but replied, “You’re in Alexandria. What, did someone hit you on the head too hard?” With her condescending reply made, the woman continued to wherever she had been heading initially. Her sarcasm almost infuriated Arleen, but she kept her head. Going off on what seemed like a civilian didn’t seem like the smartest choice right now, and she had to figure out what exactly was going on before she made any risky moves like that.
Arleen walked around the city for what seemed like hours, trying to find something that slightly resembled her home to no avail. However, she was able to mentally map the place, which was a worthy achievement of the time it took her, she supposed. She grew more comfortable with the place, during that time; eavesdropping on as many conversations, she had supposedly gathered as much information as she could. The city’s queen was apparently missing, which apparently was making everything seem so depressing. The city’s problems weren’t her own though, which at this point was being tired and being hungry. Remembering what seemed like an inn, Arleen retraced her steps back to it, hoping that they would be generous enough to house her for a night…
