AHROOOOOOOOOO!
The unearthly howl reverberated off the tunnel's walls. The party had ventured deep into the Mine in search of their target. Little did they know that it had already found them. The gigantic beast kept to the shadows, slowly stalking it's new prey from afar. They had come in a group...good. Smart. But it wasn't enough. They weren't the first party of adventures to come searching for it, and they wouldn't be the last. It had been just about ready to pounce on the intruders just as the stench of iron filled it's nostrils. It quickly identified the scent and a twisted grin crossed the demon's features before falling back into the shadows, moving into position...
The scent that had stolen the beast's attention was blood. Human blood, to be precise. A man stumbled out of the darkness in front of the party, falling to his knees while clutching his bloody chest with one hand while holding himself up with the other. He took a few gasps of air before the man pulled the hand off of his chest and reached out towards the party, his hand slick and coated red with his own blood, "I...I don't want to die..." As soon as the man finished speaking, a giant mass of shadow dropped from the ceiling, landing behind the man as it rose a giant paw in the air, quickly sweeping it across the floor in a backhand, catching the injured man and sending him crashing into a nearby wall with a sickening crack. The man's crumpled body fell to the ground and did not move again. The monster leaned it's head back and let out an earth shattering roar. The sheer force of it caused the tunnel to vibrate, making streams of dirt and pebbles to fall from the ceiling.
The demon stepped out into the circle of light emitted by an overhead lamp, revealing it's true form. A Grand Behemoth, scars and broken weapons coating it's thick purple hide. It was truly a gigantic creature, reaching up to a full twelve feet in height despite being down on all fours. It's red, beady eyes burned into the adventurers as it glared at them with all of the hatred that it could muster. It's mane, previously a shining silver, was now a dark crimson, coated with the lifeblood of it's enemies. The ancient beast slowly moved towards the party, drool spilling from it's twisted maw as it prepared to enjoy it's next meal...

Post by CLOUD STRIFE on Nov 12, 2012 4:05:44 GMT -5
The reason for Cloud's return to Narshe Mine was a rather simple one: He'd been contracted to kill a monster. He'd actually attempted at completing the Hunt on his own, but the man offering the job, a Mining Foreman, refused to let him continue deeper into the mine, insisting that every group that tried their luck had at least four members. So, the MP waited around until the others had shown up. They hadn't had much time to get acquainted before being thrown into the Lion's Den as it were, but he already knew Commander Squall and was certain that he'd seen the woman before...
It wasn't too long until they ran into another person, another adventurer...although he was grievously wounded. After he spoke, Cloud reached towards him, even though he was still some distance away, and started to say, "We'll get you help, but tell us what hap-" The MP was cut off as a monster dropped down from the ceiling and quickly disposed of the man. Cloud grunted in surprise before quickly snapping his rifle into a firing position and pulled the trigger, sending a few pulsing rounds into the Behemoth alongside a few normal bullets.

A few seldom words escaped her lips. The General did not like the idea of working with outsiders as she would much rather work with her own. But there were bigger concerns at the moment, and Beatrix could not mount a proper strike force to eliminate this demon. As such she was forced to work with these hired blades.
With one hand on the grip of Save the Queen, Beatrix trailed a few feet behind the others. Trained eye moved from place to place, taking in her surroundings. Eye snapped forward as Beatrix heard something coming from up ahead. In one smooth motion she withdrew Save the Queen, holding the great sword in both hands. Her guard lowered just a bit as the man cried for help.
Reaching inside of her, Beatrix wordlessly began to call forth the white magic in her. Until the man was promptly killed by the Behemoth. Her face turned into a sneer before she charged forward. Standing just before the creature, Beatrix fell into a defensive stance. "I AM YOUR FOE, BEATRIX OF ALEXANDRIA!" The General shouted, taunting her foe. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
