CHARACTER NAMEHestia Shyama
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONHestia is a hume/fiend mix, her mother originating as a Fox Fiend and her father as a Human. Hestia’s form is made almost fully as a hume structure, though she retains the signature ears and tail of her mother, even in human form. Regardless of being in Fox or human form, she has snow-white hair/fur, pale skin and crimson eyes, traits generally attributed to albinos, though they’re overlooked due to her half-breed origin.
Hestia stands at 5’3”, weighing just under 54Kg with a curvy figure. She has been most commonly known to wear a unique kimono, consisting of a white, sleeveless-shirt and a long red-oriental patterned skirt, with laced sandals for her feet. Generally also includes detached sleeves, held onto her upper arms by red cloth; the sleeves are generally slightly longer than her arms and hide her hands for the most part. Besides that general layout, she has been known to wear additional things, such as stockings, a ribbon tied into her hair, a long red scarf wrapped around her neck; or on most occasions, a small red hair decoration, much resembling a hat.
Hestia is also well-known for befriending other fiends or animals, and normally can be found among the company of hume and fiends alike.
CHARACTER PERSONALITYHestia is a very carefree type of person, much preferring the mischief of hide-and-seek to the rigors of study; even in her adulthood. She enjoys making others around her happy, with either her mischief or kind deeds, and overall detests injustice. She’s very much so the type who acts before they think, preferring to simply take action, and react as the situation progresses. This has afforded her many successes and many failures… though most of her failures originating from the Temple priests outsmarting her.
Hestia retains a protective natural instinct over children, be they young fiends or humans. Her indiscrimination, especially in situations where many misunderstandings may arise; such as a young fiend attacking someone from curiosity or fear; sometimes creates animosity from one party or the other towards her, though her skills at making friends often resolves the situation peacefully.
CHARACTER HISTORYHestia was born from the Fox Fiend Amaterasu’s womb as a hume-fiend half-breed. She never met her father, though her mother told her many stories of his kindness. She grew up among fiends, though she always felt out of place; until one day, a priest found her wounded and weary after having fought a group of fiends who didn’t want to accept her existence off. The priest took her back to the temple he served at and tended her back to good health, though a fear of returning to the world of fiends seized her, so instead she stayed and served at the temple as a priestess and protector; her own power being undeniable, though young as she was.
She served in the temple for a few years, mingling with its populace, and oft times getting into mischief with the children of those who visited. On one such instance, Hestia had conjured up a fox familiar at the urging of her companions and set it into the temple, frightening the priests and visitors alike. The temple became a place of safety, as well as a playground for her. Eventually though, the roots of prejudice worked its way inside, and she once again felt out of place. As such, she returned to the world of the fiends, giving her farewells to those she knew.
On her return, she at first was shunned from having lived among humans for so long. However, as she continued to dwell among them, her talent for befriending fiends and people alike became undoubtedly clear. She soon could play her mischief just as well with fiends as she could with humans. By this time, she had become distinctly more powerful, so fighting off the few that didn’t want to accept her was an easy task; while befriending them afterwards was even easier. She became a much favored figure amongst the fiends, and oft as not had a companion or two with her at all times.
It was around this point in time when the worlds became distorted, and Hestia was pulled from everything she knew and thrust into an alien place. She awoke in a forest clearing, lying on a bed of flattened tall-grass with an orb beside her. No matter how much she inspected, fondled, or poke or prodded it, she could not figure out what the orb was; so she did the only logical thing she could. She took the orb, and went in search of someone who knew what it was. Soon thereafter, she came upon the small village of Besaid, taking a liking to it; much do to nostalgia for her former home.
She dwells in Besaid, enjoying its denizens and watching over the temple currently; hoping a visitor might come along who could tell her about the strange object she found.

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?""Hi hi! I’m Hestia; is there any teriyaki here?"
"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?""Well, I can’t really say. It seems I can’t remember its name; I just remember it as ‘home’."
"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?""What do I do? Well, I help out around the temple, or sometimes I play with the fiends in the forest. The priests always get a weird look on their faces when I come back, though I bring them back presents."
"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?""You live in a temple too? Isn’t it weird how priests are always so stiff? They should just relax!"
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?""Flaunt it? What do you mean by that? And what do you mean “who am I allied with?”, I don’t like those kinds of complicated things…"
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?""Eh? I’m this tall, why do ask if you can see it?"
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy.""A date? I suppose all men are like that, hume or fiend alike."
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?""Huh? Well, I think this place was called the Moonflow? Hard to say, the last people I ran into got mad at me for scaring their shoopuffy."
"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?""Osu-mya! I love bathing down in the water. It’s so pretty and nice!"
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!""E-e-explode?!"

RP SAMPLEBesaid’s clear blue waters and sky were home to Hestia now. Long after she had actually arrived in this place, she had grown accustomed to living in the island’s forests, as well as living in its temple. The people that lived there had all become like a small family to her, and even most of the fiends on the island had taken a liking to her. Her presence on the island had stopped most fiend attacks on Besaid’s people, though it was inevitable that there still were some fiends who refused to coexist. Hestia could take the village children out to play in the woods safely, and sometimes even have fiends join in on the fun. It was a blissful life, and even today, she wondered what events would unfold; and if this new feeling on the breeze meant she’d meet new people…
“Over here! I found them!”
The voices of the children who had come out to play with her today were mingled with the soft yipes and barks of the Doggie pups. In truth, they pups were young fiends, but she couldn’t just generalize them as fiends. So she’d called them “Doggies” and left it at that. The children caught onto it quickly as well, and the name practically became the identity for them.
They had been playing hide-and-seek for a good majority of the day, using a small portion of the island’s forest itself as the arena. Since there were a lot of them to play today, some of the Doggies were chosen as the seekers, with some of the children. It was entertaining to watch the pups sniff around at the ground searchingly, and have the children right behind them, waiting for them to find something. It was even better when the pups took off after catching a scent, with the children running and laughing behind them. It was a blissful sight; and something she’d never have been able to see at “Home”. She couldn’t seem to remember her home’s name, so it was just “Home”.
Hestia herself was sitting up in a tree, lazing on a branch and watching over the game with gleeful eyes. She’d snagged a few apples on her way up and had been munching on them the whole time while giggling at the children and pups running around chasing each other. In truth, “hide-and-seek” always turned out as a game of tag, and watching them all run around chasing each other happily always made her feel happy. While she knew that no harm was likely to come to any of them, she still watched over them like a sentinel; after all, their parents trusted their safety with her. It would be unacceptable if any harm came to any of them.
Of course, originally, the parents were terrified of the prospect of letting their children be around fiends. The village had a justifiable animosity towards them from frequent fiend attacks and all, and at first it was hard to get the fiends themselves to stop attacking travelers outright; but after about a month of work, Hestia succeeded. She paraded a group of the younger fiends into and around the village, much to the priest’s and adults dismay. However, after that the fiends came around the village more, sometimes walking into it in broad daylight, studying its denizens. After the parents watched her wrestle with one, laughing and kicking and rolling around in the dirt; as well as having the children join in; they seemed to change their outlook.
Today she brought them all out into the woods away from the village after a small prank in the village temple. She smiled at the memory and might vocally say that it was the children egging her on, but she enjoyed it a lot. The Head priest at the temple had lectured her about her actions and the dangers that could occur from fiend and human mingling, setting her in a sour mood. He was a distinctly bald mane, so afterwards she waited until a congregation, and during it, used her magic to grow one, single, long strand of hair on the top of his head. At first he didn’t notice what she’d done, and continued that way all day, causing the people who saw to smile or giggle. After he found out, he lectured her furiously again, but she couldn’t remember what it had been about. She’d been grinning and giggling all the way through.
The forest was lively with noise, most of the hiding pups or children having been found and chased down and tagged; so Hestia did what she always did at the end. She conjured up a pair of familiars and leapt down from the tree, tossing the eaten apple cores to the floor. The familiars went in opposite directions, going and checking on all the village children. She wasn’t worried at all about any of them, but hume children were distinctly weaker than fiends, so she had to keep a watchful eye on them all. It took the familiars only a few minutes to gather them all to her, and after they were all there, she led them back to the village like a mother duck the Doggie pups included. After all the previous mischief she had caused in the village, the pups were looked at fondly, much to her own pleasure.
The children were all dirty from running around in the woods, so the first thing that happened when they got back was a bath. Fiends didn’t worry about that type of thing much though, and after bringing the children back to the village, she returned the pups to their own parents scratching their ears or hugging them on departure. She didn’t mind acting like the “mother hen” if it meant they all got along with each other. Most times in the beginning small quarrels would break out, leaving either the hume or fiend offspring bruised or cut, but she always tended them and lectured them like the Head Priest was want to do. Whenever that happened she felt excessively old, and would end up making the children laugh with an impression of the old man himself.
It was dark when she returned to the village and the stars shone brightly in the night sky, each one like a miniature jewel glistening with sunlight. Besaid was a peaceful place to live, that she had found out a while ago, but could reaffirm that notion whenever she glanced into the night sky. The village had a fire lit in the center area; it still burned brightly, though everyone had gone to sleep. There was also food set out on the sand surrounding the fire, and that brought a grin to her face. She was often late for meals, so the priests and priestesses would keep some food for her, and the fire was still burning brightly because it had been kindled for a while for her. This place was her home, and every kind thing they did for her only reaffirmed it.
Hestia sat down in the sand beside the food and said her prayer like the priests had taught her, and dug in smiling.
