CHARACTER NAME

Rikku

CHARACTER DESCRIPTION

Although her appearance changes drastically based on the current dressphere she has equipped, there are some features that don't change regardless. The most noticeable of her features would be her long, blonde hair although she usually keeps it wrapped up in some form or another, whether by using braids or a hair clip or by some other means. The second most noticeable feature about her are her eyes. Emerald green with with a dark swirl in the retinas, denoting her as an Al Bhed. Aside from these two things, she stands at a scant 5'2" and is a has a very thin, lithe body. When not using a Dress Sphere, she wears an orange, sleeveless tanktop that has two streamers over her shoulderblades. In addition, she keeps a pair of goggles around her neck and wears olive green shorts.

CHARACTER PERSONALITY

Rikku is a kind-hearted, spirited, happy-go-lucky, and energetic girl, although she does tend to become a bit morbid when depressed or upset. After the Gullwings split up following the events of Final Fantasy X-2, Rikku decided that she should be more like her idol, Lulu, although her attempts at adopting Lulu's personality were largely unsuccessful, the experience as mellowed her out a bit. As such, she tries to keep up the appearance of being an aloof and serious individual when meeting new people, although that facade tends to fall apart in short order. When it comes to romance, she's quick to butt into other people's love lives but is very easily flustered when it comes to her own.

She had a number of different phobias in the past, although she's since learned to conquer them through exposure, such as when she camped out in the Thunder Planes for two weeks to get over her fear of lightning or when she had Brother dump a box of snakes onto her to get over her fear of them- which in turn has made her stronger-willed, although not fearless. Rikku is also very intelligent and able to learn new concepts quickly, especially relating to the field of Chemistry, of which she is an expert in.

CHARACTER HISTORY

(The description said just a few sentences and I'm tired, so...)

Rikku was born to the leader of the Al Bhed people, Cid. Like most Al Bhed, Rikku showed great interest in Machina, even after a malfunctioning Machina killed her mother. It was this love of Machinas that led to Rikku meeting Tidus on a salvage run. The two became friends, although Rikku was separated from Tidus when he fell into the ocean after an attack by Sin. Some time later, they met up again after Tidus had become one of Yuna's Guardians, a group that Rikku herself joined a short time later. After completing Yuna's Pilgrimage and ushering forth the Eternal Calm by defeating Sin once and for all, although Tidus and Auron didn't 'survive' the final battle.

Some time afterward, Yuna and Rikku enlisted the help of a woman named Paine and formed the Gullwings, a group of Sphere Hunters. After encountering a Tidus look-a-like, they uncover a plot to destroy Spira by utilizing the ancient superweapon known as Vegnagun. Vegnagun and Shuyin, the Tidus lookalike, were defeated after an arduous journey and the Fayth rewarded Yuna's efforts by resurrecting Tidus, after which Yuna disbanded the Gullwings so that she could be with her love. With Paine uninterested in continuing adventuring any further, Shinra and Brother going off to find a way to convert the Farplane's energy into a viable power supply, and Yuna having settled down with Tidus, Rikku found herself alone in the world. Her insecurities came rushing back as she realized that she was the only one left without a purpose in the world, leading her to go back to doing what she'd always done- salvaging Machina. Until one day, when she found a particularly strange Machina in a particularly curious set of ruins. Rikku repaired the Machina, but it went berserk when she activated it. After a short battle, Rikku was defeated, and as the Machina advanced on her helpless form, she realized that she'd die the same way her mother had...just as a bright light came up from underneath her and swallowed Rikku whole, sparing her from sharing her mother's fate.

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?"

"I'm Rikku, and...I was thinking about my mother, because..."

"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?"

"Well, Home, of course! Although I guess now I live in Brother's airship..."

"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?"

"I'm a member of the Gullwings, duh! Who hasn't heard of me? But...I like Yunie, Chemistry, working on Machina...as for things I don't like, I guess it'd have to be thunder and Snakes! -grumbles- You can blame Brother for that thunder thing..."

"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?"

"E-Eh? Um...t-thanks, I guess! I don't think anyone has every said that to me before...well, besides Brother, but he doesn't count. -puffs cheeks out unhappily-"

"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?"

"I used to be part of the Gullwings, but Yunie broke it up after Tidus came back. So now I'm just out for myself, I guess. So that makes me a Vault Hunter! If you see anything strange, let me know!"

"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?"

"5'2" at last count. But I've probably grown since then! I hope..."

"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy."

"E-Eh? I...I...that's a joke, right? H-Haha! -punches the speaker repeatedly while blushing furiously-[Bisexual]"

"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?"

"They're the Castle Ruins, of course! Where else would you go to find treasure around this joint?"

"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?"

"...? But it's not foggy...is it?"

"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!"

Cloud would not fail. He could not fail. Failing to get into SOLDIER, failing to capture Hollander, failing Tifa...up until this point, Cloud's life just seemed to be nothing but a chain of failures caused by his own incompetence; his weakness. But no more. He'd finally been given another chance to prove himself. Along with two other Shin-Ra MP's and a member of the Turks, his mission was to guard Professor Rayleigh, who held a disk containing vital information, until she was safely delivered to Shin-Ra HQ. They were traveling by train, and it seemed like the trip would be uneventful...

Then AVALANCHE attacked. They'd sent a squad of genetically-modified super soldiers known as the Ravens to kill Rayleigh and steal her data...but the Shin-Ra soldiers had something else in mind for them. The attack had started when a single Raven teleported into the train car Cloud's group was defending and brandished a scythe, quickly cutting one of the Shin-Ra MP's nearly in two before the others had time to react. By the time that Cloud and the remaining MP had raised their rifles, the Raven had already vanished into thin air. The MP was the one who spoke first, "What the hell was that...that...thing?!"

The Turk hesitated for a moment before responding, "They're called Ravens, although I've never encountered one personally, I've read reports from other operatives about them...I don't think that even I could take more than two at once." Cloud grinned slightly and tilted his head up a bit, "I guess that I'll take what you can't handle, then." The other MP gave him an incredulous look, "Do you think this is a joke? They just killed one of our men! They cou-" The MP was cut off as a scythe smashed through the window behind him, the blade hooking underneath his chin before the Raven yanked back on it, cleanly decapitating the witless MP. As his headless corpse slumped to the floor, Cloud caught a quick glance of the Raven that had murdered his ally- the enemy soldier was hanging off the side of the train, glaring into the window that he'd just smashed.

Cloud only had time to notice that the Raven was wearing some kind of orange goggles before the AVALANCHE member vanished in a puff of dark smoke. The Turk quickly drew an electric baton and assumed a fighting position, "Get ready...!" The Turk had barely had time to issue his warning before the Ravens attacked, although it didn't stop Cloud from calling back, "I can handle it!". Cloud could hear their footsteps thundering against the tin roof of the train car, letting him pinpoint the first Raven's location. He spun around quickly just as the Raven dropped down from the top of the train, swinging his legs forward while holding onto the edge in order to kick the window open in order to get inside. As soon as the Raven's feet smashed through the glass, Cloud fired a quick burst from his rifle. The Raven hadn't been injured by the attack, but the force of the bullets were enough to knock him back into the wall, causing him to fall underneath the train.

He tried to ignore the sickening crunch that jostled the train car, opting instead to check on the Turk. His partner was locked in hand to hand combat with two Ravens...and was winning. After making sure that the Turk didn't need his help, he turned to see if any more Ravens had entered on his side...and felt something smash into the side of his face hard enough to knock him off his feet. Cloud hit the floor hard enough to blur his vision. He tried to pull himself to his feet, but the Raven swiftly kicked him in the stomach with enough force to send him flying into the wall, denting the metal there. The Raven walked towards his crumpled form menacingly...which gave Cloud time to recover just enough to hoist his rifle up and empty the entire clip into the Raven's chest. He gave a small sigh of relief, thinking that he'd bought a few seconds to catch his breath...when he realized that the Raven hadn't actually toppled from the gun fire.

In fact, the Raven hadn't moved much at all. The Raven sneered as he bent over and grabbed Cloud by the shoulders before slamming him against the wall to daze him. Cloud tried to struggle, but the Raven was too strong for him. The AVALANCHE member raised his leg and drew it back...just as Cloud heard a woman screaming and another voice yelling 'NO!' as the Raven kicked him in the chest. The Raven used his teleportation on Cloud, sending Cloud through the wall of the train. He vaguely registered the irony of dying in the same way that he'd killed the first Raven just as his body landed on something with a sickening crack, bathing his world in darkness...

Cloud woke up a few hours later on the cement floor of a train station's boarding platform. He slowly picked himself up and then realized what the crack had been. The MP picked up the two halves of his helmet and collapsed back onto his knees, laughing hysterically. He'd failed...again. Failed at saving Rayleigh, failed at securing the data that Shin-Ra needed, failed at fighting off AVALANCHE, and worst of all...he'd even failed at dying properly. The laughter quickly subsided, replaced with anger as he squeezed the pieces of the helmet he still held hard enough to make it break apart in his hands. No...the worst thing wasn't that he hadn't died. It was that he'd failed Tifa...but that would never happen again. He wouldn't let it. Never again."
