CHARACTER NAMEClaire Lightning Farron
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONLightning is a young adult female with a slim athletic build, measuring up about 5’7” and like all women is very reserved about her weight. Her hair is generally fairly straight up until her shoulders where her soft pink hair beings to curl over her left shoulder. These help to frame her heart shaped face so that her aqua eyes stand out from her features. Being a warrior, Lightning sports a light tan on her skin though lately that has been evened out due to her current situation.
In the past she wore her Guardian Corp outfit but during her time in Valhalla she took to wore more traditional Valkyrie type clothing which acts as armor. This mostly consists of a silver chest plate and shoulder guards with silver thigh high boots, all trimmed with gold highlighting. At her hip is a white feather sash that covers her left side. At her right arm she periodically wears a round shield, but mostly when she is preparing for battle.
Regardless as to what she is wearing however, she will always wield her gunblade and keep it on her person at all times.
CHARACTER PERSONALITYLightning is a very self-motivated and family oriented type of person. After the death of her parents at a young age she has learned how to take care of herself and her sister at an early age. Because of that she always tries to keep to herself and keep the best interest of her family at heart. Of course that being said, Lightning is not used to opening up to others or socializing with new people. To be able to support herself and her sister, Lightning joined the Guardian Corp as a soldier/warrior and thus comes her nature of an independent woman and always on her guard. Her mentality is mostly one of an “act first think later” type of deal but she dislikes showing any weakness whatsoever.
Slowly though, she’s begun to open up and come out of her shell, showing compassion to others as well becoming more trusting. Though she is still reluctant to ask others for help and still comes off as arrogant or awkward when first meeting others, she does actively try to change her ways for the better and be more social. On top of that, she is learning to express her emotions more instead of keeping them to herself which makes it so that she is more relatable to others at the very least.
CHARACTER HISTORYBorn as Claire Farron, Lightning was born and raised on in the seaside city of Bodhum on Cocoon with her younger sister Serah. However when her father died when she was very young, their family went through a hard life. As she got older, Lightning’s mother became mysteriously ill and died when she was a teenager, leaving her alone to protect and raise both herself and her sister. Because of this she grew to be very independent and close to Serah, but despite this she still felt the pain and burden that came with her mother’s death. In an effort to change herself and lose her weakness, she renamed herself after something that she knew would be strong.
After she graduated from high school she joined the guardian corp to earn enough money to support and protect her and Serah. However in her pursuit to grow stronger, she began to lose sight of what she wanted and became more focused on her work. Serah, the person she was doing this all for, had started to become neglected as Lightning spent less time with her which strained their relationship with each other. She starts to blame herself when Serah begins to spend time with the leader of NORA, Snow Villiars, who she has a large disdain for and tries to patch relations between them.
Unfortunately this comes a little too late as when Lightning’s 21st birthday comes around, Serah springs that she is getting engaged to Snow as well as becoming a Pulse I’Cie. This infuriated the woman to the point she chased both of them away, leaving her alone for her birthday. However once word that a Pulse Fal’Cie was residing nearby, Lightning suddenly believes her sister and regrets chasing her off. She goes to find her sister but is too late, causing her to go to extreme measures to get her back such as joining the purge of Cocoon voluntarily and resigning from the Guardian Corp to save Serah.
It was here on the Purge train that she met with her first ally, Sazh Katzroy who helped her take over the Purge train and enter the Pulse Vestige. But she had been too late. Her along with Snow and a group of strangers (Hope, Vanille, and Sazh) watched as Serah had become encased in crystal for eternity before her eyes, a sign that she had completed her focus. In her rage of losing Serah for what she thought to have been for good, Lightning brings out her gunblade and begins to attack the Fal’Cie. The result of this was becoming a I’Cie herself and having to complete an unknown focus with almost complete strangers and being an enemy of Cocoon, the place she had been protecting and relying on all her life.
Lightning had been determined to strike off on her own and refused to show weakness to the group, saying goodbye to her crystalized sister as everyone but Snow followed so they would not be caught. However Lightning is quick to become impatient at the rest of the group and frequently tries to move on by herself and survive with the resolve to not die as a fal’cie slave. After a while she was worried about being held back by the child of the group Hope Estheim and several times chiding him with remarks about growing stronger. Build up the emotion of frustration at both the situation and having to babysit a boy when she could barely look after herself caused her Eidolon to manifest itself and attack her. Luckily they were both able to put down the Eidolon and plan to visit Palumpolum to see Hope’s father on their way to destroy Eden.
It was when traveling through the underground tunnels of Palumpolum that Lightning had a revelation that the people on Cocoon were so used to being provided with everything by the Fal’Cie, acting like pets to them and when all that had been taken away she started to despair. She had turned to fighting because of this despair and losing herself in a delusion instead of facing reality. This revelation caused her to bring herself to think of a new reason to fight instead of just losing herself in her despair. She tried to convey this to Hope but failed to get through to the young man who was still aiming at vengeance.
Once they got out of the tunnels, the two were confronted by an army where Lightning’s protective side kicked in where she ordered Hope to run away as she held off the attack. Luckily they were saved by some allies but again the group had been divided. Once she learned that it was possible to get her sister out of her crystal sleep from the Pulsian Fang, she regained her will to fight for what she wanted. After meeting up again with most of her allies at Hope’s place, they were confronted by an army of PSICOM troops where chaos ensues until they were rescued by a Calvary ship.
Lightning learned to become closer and trust the rest of the party as they confronted the Primarch of Sanctum who revealed himself as a Fal’Cie and told them their focus was to destroy Cocoon, the place they were raised in. After escaping, the group was delivered to Grand Pulse to find answers. They traveled through several locations on the lifeless grounds below. Once they found their answers in Oreba, Fang and Vanille’s home, they all made their way back to Cocoon to Eden to take down Orphan. Needless to say this was a success and Orphan was destroyed. Cocoon collapsed down into Pulse but to save it, Vanille and Fang transformed into Ragnorok to support the falling Cocoon in a crystal pillar. Fufilling their focus, everyone turned into crystal but due to Etro’s blessing everyone immediately left their crystal stasis.
Lightning is then reunited with everyone in the party as well as her sister Serah who came out of the crystal stasis as well. It was then Snow and Serah solidify their wedding plans and Lightning congratulates them as she learned to trust Snow who she knew truly loved her sister. However something went wrong. In Etro’s act of kindness, slivers of darkness seeped into the world through crack in the unseen realm and caused a paradox to attack and surround Lightning which dragged her to the edge of time. To control this darkness, Etro closed the gate and warped the timeline to protect the world of the living. The time flow was altered and existence was distorted, erasing Lightning from history.
When she woke up she was in Valhalla, a netherworld of shifting gloom beyond life and death. After wandering, Lightning found herself at the heart of Valhalla and the throne of Etro where she could track the entire span of time and learned what enlightenment it had to offer. After this, Lightning pledged her loyalty to the fading goddess Etro to protect the unseen realm and the timeline as her chosen warrior.
That is, until the world around her faded once again. When Lightning woke up again in the realm that was not Valhalla she knew that something was wrong and that she had her duty to fix things back to the way things were. She knew that if she did not do anything and could not return to Valhalla to protect the realm from the unseen evil that chaos would spread and affect the ones she loved. This is why she fights to protect. This is why she is trying to find a way to fix everything and return to her duties as Etro’s warrior. She has no idea what happened or why she is here but she made her choice and she will fight.
((Sorry guys, I got really lazy at the end…))

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?""Ugh where am I? What’s going on? And who are you? My name… is Lightning. Now tell me what I am doing here."
"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?"”I’m from Bodhum. Now I’m here..."
"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?""Why are you asking me all these questions? Hmm… this is difficult to explain but I am now the Warrior of Valhalla, Etro’s chosen warrior. The rest is not necessary for you to know.”
[Likes: Fighting, Family, Friends, Roses
Dislikes: Ignorance, Idiots, Small Dogs]
"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?"Lightning rose an eyebrow in amazement and confusion "Are you serious?"
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?"" I’m just trying to return things to the way they were.” [Soldier of Light]
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?""Is this necessary?"
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy.""I’ll pass"
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?""Now that you mention it… this place looks like the Sunleth Waterscape. What is this?"
"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?""So you are not going to explain what is going on are you?"
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!""What?"

RP SAMPLE“When reaching for the future we sometimes fall into the past. As we gaze upon events that cannot be changed, our hearts grow bitter with regret…” With a sigh, I cut off my thoughts and ripped my eyes away from the sight of the barren expanse of Valhalla before me. The realm between the living and the dead was reflective of my memories to the point that the sight was both disgusting and hypnotic. The breeze that swept through the room was chilling yet it was not enough to break me away from my feelings for the past.
As far as the eyes can see was nothing but a dying wasteland and decaying buildings. It has been all I’ve been able to see for a very long time. It’s all I was able to witness as I have been able to do nothing but reflect on my past and the people in it. How foolish I was. How ignorant and self-centered I had been.
Catching myself, I shook my head lightly in attempt to shake the thoughts. This is stupid. Why was I filling my mind with regret all of a sudden? I am a warrior of Valhalla, chosen by the Goddess Etro to protect this land for eternity. I have no time to waste on these thoughts… thoughts that won’t even matter.
I shifted myself away from the glassless window and focused my attention to the object in the center of the room: Etro’s throne. The incandescent crystal seat was the only picture of color here as I was the only picture of life. It was ironic really.
As I waited the time I would be needed for battle again, I simply kneeled before the throne as my new armor clattered at this movement. It just seemed proper that I do this, even if it was unnecessary. Slowly, my vision blurred and I slowly shut my eyes, allowing myself to witness the full flow of the timeline. All the pictures and motions before me was always a staggering to see, but there was only one that I was currently interested in witnessing.
Serah… how will you deal with our past in your quest to change the future? I am curious to see where your journey takes you now…
((Hope everything is okay and makes sense… If need be I’ll edit. Also I may or may not write this character in first person but this is what I wrote for Lightning because it felt right as a sample... if I need to decide and redo this feel free to tell me and such))
