CHARACTER NAMESelphie Tilmitt
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONSelphie stands at five-feet, two inches, or very nearly so, with a slim figure, the occasional curve here and there. Jaw-length, brunette hair ending in a strong, upward curve frames her face, which is a round beacon of cheeriness where green eyes gaze back, full of quirkiness and joy. She doesn't have any scars or distinguishing marks on her face or neck, nor anywhere on her body, except maybe the occasional, unassuming mole or discoloration. She wears no rings, but has a golden clamshell necklace that she occasionally wears with her usual short gold-yellow jumper. Some would swear that she has some sort of magic holding it in place that it doesn't creep up but it somehow never does.
The clothing itself is fairly simple, nothing fancy about it, being a yellow jumper with darker pinstripes and a zipper leading up the entire front of it with two straps held in place by d-links in the front and sewn on in the back. From there the young woman has a thong of soft leather wrapped around her left wrist, extending partially up her forearm. Her feet are enveloped by a pair of dark brown boots. Trusty and well-worn, Selphie's had these particular boots for quite some time now, forgetting when she originally got them, and constantly has to check them during battles to make sure they aren't coming apart.
CHARACTER PERSONALITYA word can't really describe this cheerful young woman, not at all. Selphie is almost in a league of her own - bubbly, cheerful, quirky, hyper and childish are the common ones, and while she can be naive, she has spurts of surprising maturity hiding within herself. She typically makes friends fairly easily and is very outgoing, always willing to lend a hand or come up with some idea for a gathering, trying to pick up the slack of several people at once if she thinks she can, even if she can't. Even for these, Selphie can be surprisingly intelligent, knowing her way around a computer, being able to tinker with the machines with ease.
CHARACTER HISTORYSelphie grew up not knowing her parents, knowing nothing but her orphanage home for the first many years of her life before being adopted by a pair of adoring, doting parents. She knew love and happiness for so many years before and during her stay at Trabia Garden, where she made so many friends with her cheerful, outgoing self very easily. Her instructors found her to be a gem in classes, though occasionally a difficult time due to her hyperactive attention disorder when she was younger, but as she grew older the hyperactive attention issue slowly diminished. As the years passed, she didn't forget her brothers and sisters at the orphanage, Irvy, Quisty, Zell and the others, so precious to her and so missed. She could only imagine what happened with them, that they were adopted and raised well, like her.
Years passed and she would occasionally pine for the family that she was separated from and missed them something fierce, but she focused on her studies, wanting to be able to help others by becoming a SeeD. One way that she found she was able to counteract her sorrow was that she made dolls from the vague memory she held of her previous siblings. These she would typically use to help calm those that were suffering for one reason or another, though it was typically for breakups, failed exams or one's pet passing. The dolls would be occasionally played with, pairing them, or by loaning them away until the person was doing better. Selphie's desire and want to help caused her dream to become a SeeD to grow and the sooner she could become one the better, but it had to be done with the most care she possessed - she could not fail this, there were people in need of help, and so transferred to one of two Gardens that had the means to accommodate such training, Balamb Garden.
And so began the field exam at Dollet. Her squad was to have one of the easier jobs, and then she volunteered for yet another easy task - retrieving those at the center square and leaving. It was an easy job. Or so it should have been. In actuality, it wound up being one of her most frustrating tasks but thankfully those in that squad were willing to assist with bringing back their rogue squad leader. The two were equally as frustrated with their designated leader and were more than happy with dragging him back. She didn't know them, nor they her, but they understood very easily a leader gone mad and all involved were more than wanting to get back to their respective Gardens, not wanting to linger longer than they absolutely had to. After much fight and battle, they did manage to do exactly that, even having to deal with a massive, mechanical spider in the process. All in all, it was quite an adventure, exhilarating, even though she did come fairly close do death a couple of times, but she managed to pull through and get sent back home. There, she did graduate to become SeeD, a mercenary, to represent her new home and academy.
From there, things, of course, became exciting: She assisted with liberating an oppressed town; successfully becoming arrested and thrown in a magic-dampened prison; blowing up a military base; exposing a xenophobic country that no one could find; recovering lost or stolen memories and finding a majority of her newfound friends were her orphanage siblings; saving the world through time travel and killing a crazy, power-obsessed sorceress, just give a couple of examples.
After they saved the world upon the defeat of Ultimecia, that's where things got... strange. Selphie could bring back hazy memories of time compression going wonky, being brought back from the Void in the nick of time, and... something... there was something. From the Void back, things just get hazy. She knows she has friends and family, that is evidenced by the five small, well-worn dolls and four small, new-looking ones that she found with her upon coming here. Warmth floods her upon seeing them and so she knows that these people are important. She doesn't know who they are, but she knows that they are important. Grumpy, blond, excited, blue with white cross, a long coat and ponytail, round, dreadlocks, long hair and blue with white wings. They're all so important somehow, so painfully important...

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?""I-I'm where? What do you mean? What are you talking about? Distorted World?" she becomes somewhat fearful, "Where am I? This isn't cool... I don't think I should tell you my name, but... I have this feeling I should anyway. My name's Selphie."
"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?""I... I'm not sure. I remember I come from a... I think an academy. And it was really cold there. Something like... Tabby? I'm not sure... And I can't remember much beyond that. I'm sure I'll remember more in a couple of days, though."
"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?""I'd be amazed if you did happen to know it... But as far as myself goes? I'd say I'm pretty nice, cheerful, quirky definitely. Oh, these are my dolls! I'm not sure who they are, but I call them by their expressons," the young woman begins to open up a bit and grins. "I don't know who they are, but they're very special. And Excited here looks so cute with Ponytail! Don't you think? But I'm rather fond of Ponytail myself... And Round is simply too adorable! Oh, yes, eheh." Selphie couldn't help but blush as an impatient cough sounds, "Right. Back to your question. Obviously, I'm fairly hyper, easily distracted and all that. But I'm a hard worker, too! As far as likes go, I love ice cream, this memory I have of a red-orange furry thing, books, sweets in general, helping people, nice people..." she rambles on for a few minutes on things she likes and winds up going off topic about one of her likes before catching herself. "Oh, I'm so sorry! I got carried away there. Um, so. Dislikes. I'd have to say I don't like... very sour things... mean people, jerks in general really, oozy-slimy things, shrill noises, hangnails, big things with sharp pointy teeth, shadows with sharp pointy teeth." (The last being Creeps.)
"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?""We-We have things in common?!" she gasps, "No. Way! We should totally do something some time! It would be so much fun! You know it would!! We could have parties, bake cakes, have so much fun!!" Selphie bounces around in excitement, imaging all the things she and her newfound friend could do together. After she simmers down a bit, Selphie responds to the real question in his comment, "Me, a looker? I think you're looking at the wrong lady, sir, hehe."
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?"The brunette becomes almost uncharacteristically serious, a shadow almost falling across her face, "This world... it's so close to crumbling, so desperate, so hopeless... I will ensure it's survival. So many people in need of help, so close to hopelessness and some have already tumbled over... I will help them."
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?""Well, I'm obviously shorter than you, isn't that enough? Well, hmm. I'd say I'm somewhere around five feet tall, maybe an inch or two taller. I'm not too horribly concerned though."
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy.""Well. Aren't you bold? Really going for 'waist-high', aren't you? Hmph. If it weren't for that intimate statement I'd probably consider it, but that was rather kind of personal, and I don't really know you..." (Heterosexual, room to grow otherwise.)
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?""Hmm... Well, it's pretty wet here and there are quite the racket from peepers, it sounds like... You know of a food place here? That's great, I'm starving." (Waterscape)
"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?""I'm sure it is, if only this fog would lift, or lessen at any rate..."
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!""Oh, it was great talking with you, too! Oh, wait. Explode? Wha--!" (Kablooey!)

RP SAMPLEShe was still stunned from her mysterious friend exploding into a rain of smoke and stared at the place it once stood. Confused, Selphie blinked again, wondering why she was staring like that and looked around her, confused by her current location. The sound peepers was almost deafening as it was getting close to dark and she reached for her oversized nunchaku that was hidden on her person, a secret she never let anyone in on how she hid the massive things. Pulling them from thin air, green eyes glancing about, she spotted a bag on the ground and dove for it, noticing the bottom of it was starting to get wet, "No! You guys can't get wet!" She quickly hauled it up and slung it over her shoulder, hoping that no damage would be done to the precious contents within. As it got darker, she heard the sound of something squishing along and began to worry - just what was in this marsh? Automatically, she edged inward, looking for Something as her fear began to grow, though she tried humming to herself to lighten the panic.
Worn boots moved quickly as she hurried along when a custard-colored... thing landed in front of her. "Laaaaughh!!" her song wound up ending in a screech as the thing jiggled in front of her with a creepy grin. On reflex, she threw out one end of her nunchaku and whacked it in the face, causing it to gurgle in a mixture of confusion and amusement. "Oh crap, it's mutant Blobra." Her second action was her hand flinging out, holding the nunchaku in a clench and a thing of ice slowly materialized with a chiming sound over the thing's head then landed with a crash, cleanly dividing the monster's body, clearly killing it. After a few seconds, the para-magicked Blizzard spell disappeared and, another few seconds later, the custard-colored Blobra melted away. "Well. At least I know what's out here..." the young woman muttered to herself with a sigh, shaking her head. Casting a glance behind her, she quickly went on the move again. There has to be shelter here somewhere, a town or something...
A note: With this RP sample I wanted to show Selphie in the light that she's barely seen in: fear. She normally tries to be cheery and happy, even when sad, but she has barely any memory of her past, just that of battle, monsters and magic; she's thrown into a new world that she doesn't know and is trying to regain her composure and, since she's alone, she doesn't have to play games to ensure no one worries about her. This is the rare side of Selphie, the bald-faced one that doesn't get seen.
