CHARACTER NAMENoel Kreiss.
CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONNoel, being from a time where dangerous monsters such as Behemoths were abundant, is a muscular young man standing at 6'1", with messily styled brown hair, just above shoulder length. He has deep blue eyes which show his emotions more than they should. Noel Kreiss dresses in a tribal style, connecting him to Gran Pulse even more so, and with his tribal clothes comes tribal patterns. He wears a simple black v-necked shirt, decorated with tribal patterns, complete with a pair of purple and white angel wings and Etro script below it on the back. Around his neck is also a simple pendant, the cord being of brown leather. Upon Noel's left arm is a mental vambrace, while the right arm is wrapped in a criss-crossing cord pattern, with a ring on his middle finger.
On Noel's lower body, he wears a pair of blue, baggy trousers, with decorated hems. He wears low-cut brown boots as well, which expose the middle of his feet to the air. Other accessories on Noel's person is a green pouch, and a hunter's knife attached to the back of his belt, the belt itself decorated with layers of coloured cloth.
CHARACTER PERSONALITYAs a result of being one of the last humans in the world, even being the last one born, Noel Kreiss treasures life, and as a result he is highly protective over friends, due to him having lost everyone that he ever cared for in his time, which is evident in the fact that he, despite barely knowing Serah Farron, felt strongly protective over her. This feature is perhaps one of the most defining features of Noel, along with his determination to keep his loved ones happy and safe. Due to humanity having been on the verge of extinction in his world, he gives off the impression that he will not rest until he has changed the future for the better.
The lack of social communications in the Dying World, 700 AF, has caused Noel's speech to become quite straightforward, and he even speaks in a fragmented manner. Despite this, he is always willing to go to new places and meet new people, and even shows childish aspects to his personality, as in his world he had to grow mature quickly in order to survive, which prevented him from truly being a child.
Noel is generally a kind and caring person, also being cheerful and confident, which can pass him off as being cocky. He is able to remain calm as well, unable to be provoked easily. However, brash personalities really fire him up due to the fact that he grew up in a world when his friends and family were dying. Noel also has a positive attitude, which can boost the moral of people when times are tough, however he is prone to falling to sadness, so it would seem that he gives up sometimes, but he can usually find a way to push himself onwards.
CHARACTER HISTORYNoel was born 700 years after Ragnarok and the erection of the Crystal Pillar, 200 years after the Pillar broke and sent Cocoon crashing to Gran Pulse. As a result, everything is dead -- there is no greenery, only white sand covering most of the world. The Farseers, the tribe Noel was born into, were a group of humans that had managed to survive, but their numbers were slowly dwindling. Noel Kreiss, though unknowing of this at the time, was the last human born.
He was raised by his grandmother, his parents dying while he was young. However, as she was old by their standards, about fifty years, she was unable to train Noel in hunting and fighting, so he had to learn from the others. Eventually Caius Ballad, who he admired, took him on as an apprentice, training Noel to wield his broadsword and, eventually, to succeed him in being Yeul's guardian. During this time, humanity dwindled to when it was just Caius, Yeul and Noel. When the time came for Noel to fight Caius on Yeul's last birthday, he refused to kill, finding out that Caius wanted to die so the goddess Etro would die also. He is forced into a fight, and defeated, and afterwards Caius departs for Valhalla to free Yeul from her fate. After this departure, Yeul passes away, and Noel realises the curse of the seeress -- that each vision eats away at her life until she finally dies. Noel, wanting to become recognised by Etro and thus gain the power to change his fate, ventured out into the dying world, where he wandered the cold sands until finally, he could no longer move.
Noel's prayers were soon answered and a Time Gate appeared to him. He enters the Historia Crux, meeting Lightning Farron, who tells him to guide her sister, Serah, to Valhalla and work with her to change the future for the better. Noel then ends up in New Bodhum, 003 AF, and meets Serah Farron, with his memories mostly lost. However, in their journey across time, he slowly regains his memories while meeting many different Yeuls and the different versions of Caius. He finally ends up in Academia 500 AF, at the time of the prophecy of Cocoon's fall. Serah and Noel had decided to stop Caius from crashing the new Cocoon, Bhunivelze, with the old one in 500 AF, and doing so they fight Caius as Chaos Bahamut. They manage to defeat this form of Caius, and Caius soon challenges them in his human form. Serah and Noel manage to send him flying, when at the same time a wormhole opens. With the intention to follow Caius, Serah and Noel jump into the wormhole, however, Noel has found himself in a place that does not look like the intended destination at all.
Instead, Noel Kreiss arrived in the Distorted World, in a strange city he has never seen before, with faint, subconscious motives to do things that he doesn't need to do - in this timeline anyway.

"Hello there. You've just arrived in the Distorted World. Why don't you tell me your name, and the first thought going through your head right now?"Noel suddenly snaps out of his looking up and around the city, looking towards the stranger. "Name's Noel, Noel Kreiss. Where did you say this was? Hey, wait, have you seen Serah? And Caius too? I was pretty sure I was headed for Valhalla, to fight... err, Caius. Wow, that's odd. I feel like I need to go to the Archylte Steppe all of a sudden."
"That's certainly interesting... forgive me if I don't know what to say to that. So tell me, where are you from?""No, it's fine, I don't know what to say either." He frowns a little, crossing his arms. "Pulse... 700 years in the future." He's unwilling to continue.
[ final fantasy xiii-2 canon. ]
"Can't say I've ever heard of it. Well, tell me about yourself. What do you do? What are some of your likes and dislikes?"Wait, so she's never heard of Pulse? I... What happened? Noel looks uncomfortable.
"Erm, I'm a hunter. I was also training to become Yeul's guardian, but not any more." He quickly smiles, willing to answer the second question. "Training! Training's good, and I like hunting too. I loved listening to my grandmother's stories as well. I love seeing people happy too; there... wasn't much happiness when I was born." Noel shakes his head a little, his tone quieter. "I don't like death, or how easy people die."
"Ah, that's amazing! And not only do we have some things in common, you're quite the looker, too, aren't you?"He frowns a little, shaking his head. "I, uh, haven't actually got that before? Thanks?" Noel seems to be confused.
"There's no need to be shy. They always say, if you've got it, flaunt it, right? Anyway, enough about that. Who are you allied with?""Allied with? I'll do what it takes to make the future a better place and keep everyone safe, but first I gotta find out what happened."
[ survivor. ]
"I'm sure you have your reasons... Oh, on another note, how tall are you?""Huh? I don't think I've been measured recently but I'm a couple inches taller than Caius, I think."
"Drat! Just four inches too tall. Although... hmm, would you mind if I asked you on a date? Don't worry, I'll buy.""... A date? What's that?" Now Noel looks really confused.
[ bisexual. ]
"Finding a venue might be a bit difficult, anyway, since I have no idea where we are... tell me where this is, again?"Noel once again starts looking around, stumbling around as he looks up at the sky. "I thought I was going for Valhalla. Doesn't look like it though. The buildings are different and it's not as gloomy. I'm not sure where we are."
[ archades. ]
"Ah, how could I forget? I'd love to vacation here someday, when it's not so foggy... It's scenic, you know?""Yeah, I guess. It's a lot better than the future, definitely."
"Well, thank you for the lovely conversation! I'm afraid I'll have to be leaving you, though, since I'm going to explode in about three seconds anyway. Buh-bye now!""WHOA, wh-what?!"

RP SAMPLEThe desert... It was so cold, so dark. Noel had already lost track of where he was, and how long he had been walking for. His arms were held loosely by his sides, and he stared down at the floor, his eyes only partially open as he kept on walking, feeling the white sand slowly shift under his feet but with no danger of suddenly causing the hunter to fall over. There was nothing, absolutely nothing out here. It was silent. Noel couldn't even hear the usual monster making noises as it squabbled over carrion. It was as though he was the last living thing, instead of just the last human.
He shivered and stopped. He silently prayed, looking up at the starless sky. Etro, if you're there... Please, give me the power to change all this, he thought, feeling a tear run down his face and lightly touching his ear as it fell. He looked down again, and turned his head, as though he had heard someone call his name -- but there was nothing, only sand, only bones, only darkness.
There was nothing. Noel should have known it would come to this, having seen his parents die when he was young, seeing his grandmother die, his friends die, until finally it was just the seeress, Yeul, and her guardian, Caius left. He would have expected to have spent longer with them, but no. Caius left after their battle, to free Yeul from her fate by travelling to Valhalla, and when Noel went to find Yeul to tell her, she died soon afterwards. He had hoped to spend more time with her, to have been able to die with Yeul, with someone by his side, but fate had other plans, and decided to take the seeress away from him. She had died in his arms. She was the third person to die in his arms since his seventeenth birthday, and while it felt good to know that no one else would die in his embrace, it was also a sickening thought, because there was no one to even do so.
"Etro... Please. I want to change things, to make them better..." he murmured softly, after what seemed to be hours alone in the shadows. He was desperately praying, and minutes of speaking the prayer aloud had quickly driven his throat to become rasped. He was desperate to change his fate, and he was determined to get Etro to hear him, so... once last time, before he finally collapsed from exhaustion.
"ETRO!!! Give me the power to change things!" He cried out. He stayed still, breathing heavy, but no answer came. None at all. Not until he slowly fell to his knees and then to his chest, when a strange light emanating from an odd floating object glowed in front of his eyes, but he couldn't investigate, for Noel slowly blacked out, thinking that he had failed, thinking that finally, death had completed its collection of humans.
