Hundreds of people crossed Beatrix's path on a daily basis. They would nod, or mutter a greeting to the General of Alexandria. Some would even ask how her day was, or some other thoughtful garbage like that. Yet no matter how many times people talked to her Beatrix always felt lonely. So very lonely.
It was hard to say why, especially with all of her fellow Alexandrians around her. Slowly she walked through the castle halls, trying to push back the dreadful feeling. For a few seconds she struggled, both physically and mentally, to progress. Her limbs felt old and weak, her mind shattered and broken. It took her two attempts to open up the large wooden door that led to the main entryway.
A hand reached out to grab the railing. Holding it firmly, like it was her last hope, Beatrix slowly scanned the room. She was on the balcony up above, and the few people mulling about below paid no mind to her. Beatrix's one good eye turned to the large portrait. Hanging directly across from the main entrance, it depicted Alexandria's latest Queen.
Beatrix could only stand to look at it for a few seconds. Her dark brown eye turn away, in either sorrow or shame. The General couldn't tell. Garnet brought up a lot of emotions within the Rose of Alexandria. The most dominate of these feelings was failure. It was under her watch that Garnet went missing, not once but twice. Yet the sorrow of missing a member of the Alexandros family was almost as bad. In many ways Beatrix was like a loyal dog, waiting for her mistress to return home.
With a soft sigh, her one good eye turned to the main door. There had been no sign of the Queen in days. No how many search parties Beatrix had sent out, not even a single clue had turned up. All Beatrix could do was wish and pray for her Queen to return.[/style] |

The benefits of the canary being missing just kept coming for Kuja, for one thing it meant the castle and town were with out a ruler a position he was oh so ready to take over of he would use force if needed. The second benefit was that the guards were so busy out looking for her, that getting into the castle became as easy as walking into an item shop. Most people didn't even give him a second glance, than again his face and clothes were hidden by his plum coloured cloak.
Kuja didn't know how long it would be until someone actually managed to find the little Queen, perhaps no one would ever find her for the land outside the town's walls had become a dangerous place. One that even he himself avoided venturing out into unprepared, so if one was to wake up out there than their life would be rather short. As the silver haired gnome left the ball room he spotted a rather familiar face ascending the stairs, One never forgot a face of beauty especially one that destroyed a village filled with people in it oh yes Kuja remembered the General.
Pale pink lips pulled into a smirk yet hidden in the darkness of the cloak not a single person around him saw it, The Rose of Alexandria drifted out of his sight for a moment. Kuja however was quick to follow her, yet he kept his steps soft and remained a fair distance behind her enough so he could see where she was headed but far away enough so that she could never catch him behind her. He watched her vanish behind the giant wooden doors, it was all to perfect she was cutting herself off from anyone else inside the castle.
He waited a moment to see if she came rushing back out and when she didn't he went in, pulling the giant wooden door open with ease the sun light quickly flowed over him as the genome took his first step onto the Balcony. "The rose withers away into nothing with out her Precious Canary here to hold her hand, such a touching tale" Kuja did not remove his hood for now, there was something amusing about making people guess who just might be under here, than again his voice was something not any one could just copy and how many people called the Princess Canary but him.
"How man men did you send out to die today to find her?"

The General's skin crawled as the other spoke. Spoke of death forced the memories of Cleyra and Burmecia to crawl back into her mind. Beatrix gulped. She was afraid. He once pristine rose had withered so much. Doubts and fears had eaten away at the bright red petals. Where as the constant nightmares had only added to the decay.
Every night it was the same. She was in Cleyra once again. The tree was on fire, it's citizens screaming and running in terror. Beatrix was in the center of it all, cutting down anyone foolish enough to get in her way. Every swing of her blade caused a scream of sorrow to escape her lips, but it was always muffled by the voice. Evil and sinister it whispered orders into to her ear. It demanded that she kept going, to crush the Cleryians. The voice wasn't always a whisper in her ear, sometimes it possessed the body of the late Queen. Barking orders from her fat body. No matter what form it took, it was always his voice.
Beatrix spun around, her face pulled back into a snarl. A hand fell to Save the Queen. Knuckles turned white as she wrapped her fingers around the grip. This man had the same voice as the one in her nightmares. "None." She spat. "They always return alive." Her voice dripped with venom. But it was just part of her defenses. Her posture, aggressive face, all of it was just to hide away the fear that she felt only a few seconds ago. "Now I suggest you leave, you are not welcome here." She was so afraid, Beatrix wasn't even able to do what she could a few months ago. Kill the cause of her nightmares.[/style] |
